The Spanish Golden Age
Every school year, the 3rd ESO students go on their cultural trip to Madrid; this year, the dates chosen were from the 15th to the 18th of February.
This trip aimed to work on the Spanish Golden Age through Individuals and Societies and Spanish Language and Literature subjects. In this interdisciplinary unit of enquiry, we travelled to the Hapsburg period, visiting El Prado, touring the "barrio de las Letras" and seeing the house-museum of Lope de Vega and its surrounding streets full of history.
We also travelled to Alcalá de Henares to taste the period with a visit to the University, the Corral de Comedias and the house where Don Miguel de Cervantes was born.
We also enjoyed a pleasant walk through the Retiro Park and went to the Palacio de Cristal.
During the stay, the students lived in flats and organised their free time to go for walks and shop and prepare breakfast and dinner.
The pupils have developed social and collaborative skills on this trip through group work and living in the flats. They have also worked on self-management skills such as reflection and preparing a "travel diary", in which they have learned to organise their time and distribute their tasks correctly.
Educating outside the classroom further enriches their knowledge and broadens their vision of the world.
